UK PARLIAMENTARY ROUND TABLE DIALOGUE

 YB Teresa Kok had a UK Parliamentary Roundtable dialogue chaired by Lord Simon Wooley in the House of Lords, Westminster. The minister conveyed that Malaysia is keen to work with Britain in facilitating opportunities across the region. Post Brexit, it is hoped that the British government will look into the wider opportunities now available without the trade constraints of the EU.

ROUNDTABLE DIALOGUE: COMMONWEALTH CAUCUS FOR SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL PRODUCTION USE IN AFRICA 

Some of the key discussion points were on the possible collaboration between the Malaysia and the United Kingdom in assisting African nations on sustainable palm oil production. YB Teresa Kok also highlighted the extensive efforts that have been undertaken to produce certified sustainable palm oil by the Malaysian Palm Oil industry and how all of these efforts can be adopted by other producing countries particularly by African countries.

Press Conference on Media Gloves Contributed by Malaysia-China Silk Route Chamber Destined for Other Provinces in China.

YB Teresa Kok today witnessed the sending off of 3.75 million pieces of hand gloves (both latex powder free and powder types) and 20,000 pieces of protective clothing for medical use to China. The medical gloves are donated by Malaysia-China Silk Route Chamber to be sent Hunan, Hubei, Hainan, Shandong and Guangdong.

REACH AND REMIND FRIENDS OF THE INDUSTRY SEMINAR 2020 AND DIALOGUE

"The Malaysian palm oil industry continues to contribute robustly towards the nation’s economic development. This industry is now the fourth largest component of the national economy.

From January to November 2019, the total exports of palm oil and its downstream derivatives from Malaysia stood at 25.7 million tonnes, an increase of 10.9% from the same period in 2018 of 23.2 million tonnes.

Although this generated an income of more than RM59 billion to the country, this is a decline of 5.9% compared to 2018’s revenue of RM62.7 billion, again for the same time frame.

Palm oil has now become a leading vegetable oil globally and Malaysia is now the second largest exporter accounting for 20.1% of global oils and fats export. Indeed, China, India, the European Union, the USA and Japan are among the major palm oil export destinations for Malaysia,"
