KUALA LUMPUR (March 24): Palm oil industry players are told to bring along a copy of Malaysian Palm Oil Board's permission letter when undertaking the transaction and movement of palm oil products during the Movement Control Order period.

The permission letter can be downloaded from the MPOB website, MPOB said in a statement today.
The letter should be presented to the authorities as a permit to carry out the operations of buying, selling and moving of palm oil products, he said.
Parties involved in such transactions are also required to present copies of MPOB licences or any related documents for the movement of palm oil products, such as the handing over of oil palm fruits by smallholders.
“MPOB would also like to advise the industry to comply with the regulations for transaction and movement of palm oil products under the Movement Control Order and all instructions of the National Security Council," he added.

In a separate joint statement earlier, the Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA), Malaysian Estate Owner Association (MEOA), East Malaysia Planters Association (EMPA) and the Sarawak Oil Palm Planters Association (SOPPOA) — which cover 80% of the Malaysian palm oil industry — said their members will step up existing measures to ensure that any employees who may have been exposed to the virus prior to the enforcement of movement control order (MCO) are self-isolating.
The industry bodies added that they have put stringent standard operating procedures in place for all members, terming the initiative as voluntary lockdown to starve the virus of plantation victims.
