KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) signed four MoUs worth about RM128 million involving industry players in the agricultural commodities sector at the Expo 2020 in Dubai yesterday.

The MoUs include one between Sharjah Ports & Customs Free Zones Authority and the Timbers Exporters Association of Malaysian (Team) and another between Etlingera Sdn Bhd and Aromology Tradings LLC.



MALAYSIAN International Agricommodity and Expo and Summit 2022 (MIACES 2022) targets an export value of RM300 billion for the agri-commodity sector this year, said Minister of Industries, Plantations and Commodities Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.

She said MIACES 2022 is expected to create opportunities for agri-commodity industry players to grow and find new markets to further increase agri-commodity exports.



KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Bhd's net profit decreased 59.5 per cent to RM50.13 million in the third quarter (Q3) ended Sep 30, 2022, from RM79.94 million recorded in the same quarter a year ago.

Revenue in Q3 eased 19.3 per cent to RM140.36 million.



KUALA LUMPUR: Agriculture commodity product exports saw an increase of 64 per cent during the Covid-19 movement control order (MCO) period in 2020 and 2021, compared to the pre-pandemic years of 2018 and 2019.

Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said despite the country facing numerous economic problems stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic, the export value of Malaysia's agriculture commodity products remained strong.
